“The time is now to restore the principles and values
that made our country exceptional.”

Fiscal Responsibility and Deficit Reduction

Our nation is presently confronted by a sixteen trillion dollar debt and an annual deficit well over a trillion dollars.  A clear majority of the American people understand that this fiscal path is unsustainable and must be confronted in a meaningful way rather than simply at the margins.   For anyone who is truly concerned about our children and their future prosperity, the time is now for us to get control over our government’s finances in a responsible manner so that we do not become a permanent debtor nation that will greatly diminish their opportunity for success.

Healthcare

“ObamaCare” must be systematically defunded and ultimately repealed.  Our national health care system is in need of reform, but a government takeover of the health care and health insurance industries is not reform. ObamaCare not only limits our freedoms and increases the cost of health care and insurance, it will also reduce the number of healthcare providers that actually provide the vital services we need to expand access to.

Our system needs dynamic free market solutions that foster inter-state competition amongst insurance carriers.  It is essential that we eliminate Medicare/Medicaid fraud, reform medical liability insurance, and take measures that increase competition amongst both healthcare providers and insurance carriers that will drive down the cost of healthcare.

National Security

The most important responsibility that our federal government has is the protection of the American people and our homeland.  We need to secure our borders, maintain a more modernized military, and improve on its capabilities in order to adapt to the rapidly-changing security challenges that confront America both domestically and around the world.

We must also acknowledge that as the pressure to deal with our debt problem grows, there will be political pressure to cut our defense budget and scale back on defense commitments that will directly affect our national security.  Since our national security and our fiscal stability are directly linked, it is imperative that our federal government significantly reigns in its spending and gets its fiscal house in order.

Tax Reform

At 60,000 pages long, our current tax code is needlessly complex, inefficient, and unfair.  There is ample opportunity for bipartisan cooperation to replace our tax code with a much simpler code that emphasizes economic growth, eliminates tax loopholes, and underscores fairness for all Americans.

Energy

Readily available and affordable sources of energy serve as the foundation for our nation’s economic growth and development, but the Obama Administration has implemented a set of policies and regulations that are directly restricting access to our own energy resources. It is unthinkable that our own federal government is actually pursuing a national energy policy that runs counter to what should properly be in our national interest— a policy that puts so much of our known domestic supplies of oil and gas off-limits to exploration while we simultaneously finance other countries’ energy exploration efforts.

These failed policies need to change if we have any intentions of keeping our energy costs low, creating American jobs, and growing our economy. We can remain good stewards of our environment while responsibly exploring and producing the oil, coal, and natural gas that is abundantly available within our borders.  Renewable energy sources can and will be developed through marketplace innovation, not through government subsidies or financing.

We also need to encourage the construction of nuclear power plants, as nuclear is a reliable and emissions-free source of affordable energy that we need to accelerate the production of.

As your representative in Congress, I will work towards enacting an energy policy that greatly increases our domestic energy supplies, repeals harmful regulations, eliminates energy subsidies, and moves us towards energy independence.

Israel

The United States and Israel have established a special relationship that is evident in our shared values, economic ties, bilateral institutions, and our military cooperation, and these bonds must be protected.

Under President Obama, U.S.-Israeli relations have suffered to an extent that should leave all those who value our unique relationship with Israel very concerned.  The fact is that President Barack Obama has fundamentally altered our relationship with Israel, and this intentional shift in U.S. foreign policy has emboldened Israel’s mortal enemies and jeopardized its national security.

In spite of denials from Debbie Wasserman Schultz, it is impossible to square the President’s rhetoric with the diplomatic humiliation and coercion his administration has demonstrated towards Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  President Obama’s recent demand that Israel must concede its right to defensible borders as a precondition for peace negotiations was not only an unprecedented insult, it is proof positive of his contempt towards Israel.  To this day, Debbie Wasserman Schultz refuses to criticize any aspect of President Obama’s reckless foreign policy towards Israel.

This administration’s naïve policy change towards Israel couldn't have come at a worse time.

We must take Iranian President Ahmadinejad seriously when he expresses his intention to wipe Israel off the map.  Iran is getting closer in its quest to develop nuclear weapons, and it will be critical for Israel to receive strong support in Congress, not the continued doublespeak of Debbie Wasserman Schultz that excuses President Obama’s indefensible policies.

As your representative in Congress, I will firmly support Israel and its right to chart its own path to peace with its neighbors.  Israel must be allowed to govern its own affairs, and we can no longer dictate to Israel where it can build its settlements as it safeguards its security and pursues peace in the region.

Traditional Marriage

I support the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) of 1996,  identifying marriage as being between one man,and one woman. As a member of congress, I pledge to uphold this law, and protect it from any future challenges.

2nd Amendment/Gun Rights

I fully support the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that protects your right to keep and bear arms.  Unfortunately, many opponents of the Second Amendment exploit tragedies to advance gun control legislation, mistakenly believing that new gun laws will reduce crime and prevent future tragedies.

It is no coincidence that many of the cities in the United States with the strictest gun-control laws also have very high violent crime rates.  Disarming law-abiding citizens does not prevent criminal activity, and additional laws do not prevent criminals from obtaining guns.  I will oppose all efforts that attempt to water down your Second Amendment rights, and I support strictly enforcing existing laws that severely punish violent criminals who possess illegally obtained firearms.

Right to Life Issues

I firmly believe that the right to life for all human beings must be respected at every stage of biological development, from conception to natural death.  I oppose abortion in all cases except in instances when the life of the mother is legitimately endangered.

Any rationing of health care that results in the denial of life-saving medical treatment against the will of the patient is an unacceptable form of involuntary euthanasia, which is why I firmly believe that ObamaCare must be defunded and ultimately repealed, as it will ultimately ration healthcare once it is fully implemented.

I fully support the following pro-life positions:

  • The complete reversal of the Roe v. Wade in order to allow Congress and the state legislatures to decide the issue rather than a simple majority of justices on the Supreme Court
  • The complete removal of federal taxpayer dollars from the abortion industry, including the defunding of Planned Parenthood
  • The “Hyde Amendment” and oppose any federal monies from Medicaid from being used to pay for abortions or for managed-care plans that include abortion, except to save the life of the mother
  • I oppose chemically-induced abortions, including the use of RU-486 and the use of other drugs known to prevent a newly created human being from implanting in a mother’s womb
  • The right of medical professionals and pharmacists to sign “conscience clauses” that allow them to opt out of and not participate in any induced or elective abortion procedure
  • I support the practice of adult stem cell research, which has yielded numerous therapeutic treatments; but I oppose embryonic stem cell research, which has yet to produce a single cure
  • I support a complete ban on the cloning of human embryos for either research or reproduction
