GOP Congressional Hopeful Harrington: Wasserman Schultz Faces ‘Race of Her Life’

Tied to President Barack Obama’s failed policies, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz faces the “race of her life” in November, GOP congressional hopeful Karen Harrington tells Newsmax.TV.
“I think Debbie is in for the race of her life as we’re going to hold her accountable for everything she’s voted for and everything that’s gone wrong in America,” Harrington said in an exclusive interview on Friday. “And she’s going to have to answer to the constituents so it’s going to be a very interesting race and to see how she’s going to be able to support these policies that have failed.”
Harrington, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the right to take on Wasserman Schultz in a rematch for Florida’s 20th Congressional District, said South Florida voters have a clear choice.
“Do they want a candidate like myself that has real-world experience, that believes in smaller government, that believes that entrepreneurs should thrive and we can create jobs and not be threatened by our government to raise taxes?" Harrington said. "Or do they want a person like Debbie Wasserman Schultz who is basically Barack Obama’s lapdog?”
Like Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank, who announced his retirement rather than seek re-election, Wasserman Schultz, faces an uphill climb with voters.
“I think people like Barney Frank and Debbie Wasserman Schultz that have been in politics their entire life now have to come back to fight for their position and actually answer to the constituents and I don’t think he was willing to do that,” said Harrington.
She accused Wasserman Schultz and other Democrats in Congress of not knowing what was in Obamacare before they passed it and how it would affect voters.
In April 2010, Wasserman Schultz was recorded at a town hall meeting saying that Obamacare does not require people to carry health insurance.
“They’re basically lying to the American people,” insists Harrington. “They passed a bill. They didn’t know what’s in it. And now they’re going to tell us they’re not forcing us to purchase health insurance or be penalized. Well of course that’s exactly what this bill is doing and 70 percent of Americans didn’t want the Obama healthcare bill passed but they did it anyway.”
She said Democrats simply failed to listen to the American public.
“That’s why I will be a better representative because I will listen to the will of the American people and bring their voice to Washington.”
